Amy Markanda will be producing furniture for the PDA for 40 Oaks project.

Amy is a furniture designer based in Toronto, Canada. A graduate of University of Toronto, Amy holds a Bachelors of Arts in Communication, Culture, and Information Technology. Her interest in design led her to Sheridan College where she completed the Furniture Design program.

Creating products that people use in their daily lives comes with an immense amount of consideration, innovation, and responsible design practices. With that in mind, Amy strives to create unique and carefully resolved pieces that are durable, timeless and responsibly made.

Amy works in a wide range of materials and processes to realize her concept from the initial design to the end of production. Her pieces are characterized by simplicity and minimalist form combined with strong relationships between volumes and forms. Naturally curious, Amy continues to explore the potential of different mediums and new ecologically friendly processes
