DIY: Old Fantasy Novels + Old Soda Crates = Fantasy Crate Nightstand

Last month I made myself a night stand out of old crates and fantasy novels.  First I screwed together to the two crates using wood screws and screwing from the inside of the crate.

Then I bound the books together very tightly using string. I used string because I felt like gluing or screwing would waster perfectly usable fantasy novels and  sometime in the future someone may want to read them again (or they burn the fluff).

Make sure that the books are all the same height

The books need to be tied tightly so you may need to redo some knots...I did!

Finally I placed the crates on top of the books. You can see in the photo below that I placed the books on an angle in order to make it more secure.  You also need to do a couple more things to make sure it stays secure without anymore screwing or gluing. The first is to make sure it is up snugly against a wall, and the second is that you should have something heavy inside of the crates (ie, books you like to read in bed) to weigh it down.

Voila!  Fantasy Crate Nightstand!
